Jesus is the truth about God, and the statement «I am the truth» is a revelation of the truth about our union with God.

At the Last Supper, Jesus told His disciples: «If you really knew me, you would know my Father. And from now on you they know and have seen. Sir Philip said, show us the Father and that will be enough. – But, Felipe! So much time I have been among you, and still do not know me? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father? «(John 14: 7-9).

Which was exactly what the disciples saw Jesus? They saw the perfect man, the man just as God originally created. Genesis 1: 26-27 says, «And God said, Let us make man in our image and likeness to be … And God created man in his image being; He created the image of God. «Four times in these two verses emphasizes that God created us in His image, as the purpose of man before the fall was to show what God is, through the way we live , to act and behave. It is not a physical likeness of God, for God is not a physical being, but is a moral likeness, His character.

Felipe Jesus asks: «Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I inform you, not just my own, but it is the Father who is in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me … «(John 14: 10-11). Jesus lived in complete union with the Father, in complete obedience to Him in complete dependence on Him and complete love for Him. When the disciples saw Jesus, they saw God himself in action. All the miracles and teachings of Jesus was His Father working through Him.

The relationship Jesus demonstrated his Father when he was as a man on earth, is the same relationship that we’re meant to be with Him. Jesus came to earth not only to save his people from their sins, but to reveal the the true nature of humanity as God wants it. Having been reconciled with the Father, Christ, by His Spirit, live His life in us and through us, and he himself is the means by which our lives reflect the moral character of God. «I am the truth,» Jesus said. In other words, «I am demonstrating how you are destined to live in union with the Father.» In Christ we have life in its fullness and splendor, with the power and strength of Christ himself.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I pray for an increasingly intimate with you, so that your union Spirit in me increasingly reflect the truth of God in my life and through my life.
For reflection: Is my life as a reflection of God’s truth?

[6

post-1035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-devocionales
["GET
