«Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de vosotros, pues es don de Dios.» Efesios 2:8
Quiero contarles la historia del teólogo Philip Yancey quien cuenta en su libro «La Gracia Divina vs. La Condena Humana» como es crecer en una iglesia que usaba la Biblia para justificar la segregación racial. La atmosfera era de reglas, culpa y exclusión y años después, al estudiar los evangelios, quedo atónito: el Jesús que encontró no se parecía en nada al Dios que le habían enseñado . Este Jesús comía con recaudadores de impuestos, perdonaba a adulteras, hablaba con samaritanas y tocaba a los leprosos. Yancey escribió: «La gracia significa que no hay nada que puedas hacer para que Dios te ame más, y no hay nada que hayas hecho para que Dios te ame menos.»
La gracia es el concepto más radical del universo.
En todas las religiones del mundo, el ser humano asciende hacia la divinidad por merito, disciplina o sacrificio, pero solo en el evangelio desciende Dios hacia el ser humano y no porque lo merezcamos, sino porque nos ama. La salvación no es el premio al buen comportamiento, es el regalo al arrepentido.
Pero la gracia tiene un efecto secundario que muchos no anticipan: quien realmente la recibe, no quiere pecar más y no es porque tenga miedo al castigo, sino porque ama a quien lo perdono. La gracia no produce libertinaje en los que genuinamente la comprenden, produce gratitud, y la gratitud produce obediencia gozosa.
¿Vives bajo gracia o bajo ley? ¿Te acercas a Dios con el peso de lo que has fallado, o con la confianza de quien sabe que fue perdonado? La gracia no minimiza el pecado, lo paga completamente y es esa deuda, pagada en la cruz, la razón de tu libertad hoy.
Recuerda: «La gracia no es Dios bajando su estándar, es Dios pagando el precio que nosotros no podíamos pagar.»
Oremos: Mi Dios , gracias por Tu gracia inmerecida, te ruego que nunca yo la tome como algo ordinario. Que la maravilla de ser perdonado me mueva cada día a amarte más y a vivir para Ti con gratitud genuina. En el nombre de Jesús. Amen.

«For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.»
Ephesians 2:8
I want to share the story of theologian Philip Yancey, who recounts in his book What’s So Amazing About Grace? what it was like to grow up in a church that used the Bible to justify racial segregation. The atmosphere was one of rules, guilt, and exclusion. Years later, while studying the Gospels, he was astonished: the Jesus he found bore no resemblance to the God he had been taught about. This Jesus ate with tax collectors, forgave adulterous women, spoke with Samaritan women, and touched lepers. Yancey wrote: «Grace means there is nothing you can do to make God love you more, and there is nothing you have done to make God love you less.»
Grace is the most radical concept in the universe.
In every religion in the world, human beings ascend toward the divine through merit, discipline, or sacrifice. But only in the gospel does God descend toward the human being — not because we deserve it, but because He loves us. Salvation is not the reward for good behavior; it is the gift given to the repentant.
But grace has a side effect that many do not anticipate: those who truly receive it no longer want to sin — not because they fear punishment, but because they love the One who forgave them. Grace does not produce licentiousness in those who genuinely understand it; it produces gratitude, and gratitude produces joyful obedience.
Do you live under grace or under law? Do you approach God weighed down by what you have failed at, or with the confidence of someone who knows they have been forgiven? Grace does not minimize sin — it pays for it completely. And it is that debt, paid on the cross, that is the reason for your freedom today.
Remember: «Grace is not God lowering His standard — it is God paying the price that we could not pay.»
Let us pray: My God, thank You for Your undeserved grace. I ask that I never take it for granted. May the wonder of being forgiven move me every day to love You more and to live for You with genuine gratitude. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
