ABSOLUTO #6: DIOS ES SANTO
1 Pedro 1:16 “Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.”
“La santidad de Dios no se ajusta al hombre; el hombre es llamado a reflejarla”. Cuando la Biblia declara que Dios es santo, está diciendo que Dios es totalmente distinto al pecado, moralmente puro, perfecto en todo lo que hace entonces la santidad no es solo algo que Dios hace; es parte de quién Él es. Hoy vivimos en una cultura que ha suavizado el concepto de santidad pues se la confunde con legalismo, superioridad espiritual o normas externas.
Sin embargo en la Biblia, la santidad no significa aislarse del mundo, sino vivir para Dios en medio del mundo. Y que la verdad es esta: Dios no rebaja Su santidad para acomodarse a nosotros, muy por el contrario, nos transforma para que vivamos conforme a Su carácter. Y esto a su vez quiere decir que El llamado “sed santos” no es una carga imposible, sino una invitación a una vida diferente, marcada por obediencia, reverencia y un corazón rendido. Yo me quedo con esta definición para mi vida personal; “La santidad no es perfección sin errores, sino una dirección del corazón es amar lo que Dios ama y rechazar lo que Dios rechaza”.
Te doy un ejemplo: Imagina un vaso con agua limpia y pura, ahora le agregas solo una gota de agua sucia, entonces el vaso ya no está completamente limpio. Así también, Dios, en Su santidad, no puede convivir con el pecado, pero en Su gracia nos limpia para que podamos vivir en comunión con Él, por ello “Dios no nos llama a fingir pureza, sino a caminar en limpieza, dependiendo de Su gracia”. Éxodo 15:11 dice: “¿Quién como tú, Jehová, entre los dioses? ¿Quién como tú, magnífico en santidad…?”
Entonces para resumir, la santidad de Dios: define lo que es correcto, establece límites que protegen y nos revela Su gloria
Oremos: Dios mío, mi Señor, Tú eres santo, te ruego examina mi corazón y límpiame, ayúdame a vivir una vida que te honre, no por mis fuerzas, sino por Tu gracia. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.”

ABSOLUTE #6: GOD IS HOLY
1 Peter 1:16
“Be holy, because I am holy.”
“God’s holiness does not adjust to humanity; humanity is called to reflect it.”
When the Bible declares that God is holy, it is saying that God is completely separate from sin, morally pure, and perfect in all that He does. Therefore, holiness is not just something God does; it is part of who He is.
Today we live in a culture that has softened the concept of holiness, often confusing it with legalism, spiritual superiority, or external rules. However, in the Bible, holiness does not mean isolating ourselves from the world, but living for God while still in the world.
The truth is this: God does not lower His holiness to accommodate us. On the contrary, He transforms us so that we may live according to His character. This means that the command “be holy” is not an impossible burden, but an invitation to a different kind of life—one marked by obedience, reverence, and a surrendered heart.
I personally hold on to this definition for my own life:
“Holiness is not perfection without mistakes, but a direction of the heart—to love what God loves and reject what God rejects.”
Let me give you an example.
Imagine a glass filled with clean, pure water. If you add just one drop of dirty water, the glass is no longer completely clean. In the same way, God, in His holiness, cannot dwell with sin; but in His grace, He cleanses us so that we may live in fellowship with Him. Therefore, God does not call us to pretend purity, but to walk in cleanliness, depending on His grace.
Exodus 15:11 says:
“Who among the gods is like You, Lord?
Who is like You—majestic in holiness…?”
To summarize, the holiness of God:
- defines what is right
- establishes protective boundaries
- reveals His glory
Let us pray:
My God, my Lord, You are holy. I ask You to examine my heart and cleanse me. Help me to live a life that honors You, not by my own strength, but by Your grace. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
